my mom did tons of cruising in her day...and there are some cruise lines to stay away from (basically any that have ads on tv) carnival and celebrity are the 2 top ones...they are cheap for a reason (as compared to other cruise lines---my mom is trying to get me on one next year so she can go, I get sea sick just THINKING about it, but if it will make her happy--and she will pay for the tickets, etc, I will go with her, and bring the name of my doctor along).
as for the 'help' on board being foreigners--all cruise lines do that, even the top ones...if you stop to think that for every passenger on board there is at least ONE employee---then you get a sense of the numbers of people it takes to run one ship! (and I worked with a person who actually was an employee on one of those cruise lines--they get paid VERY poorly for what they do)
sorry you had a bad experience ET, try a better cruise line and I assure you you will have a great time! (and be broke afterwards as well as gaining 5lbs or so)
coffee milk--they have it in japan, find a japanese market and you will probably find at least one there (I know of 2 or 3 you can get bottled, unfortunately I find the coffee they use a bit too, uhm, caffeinated for me--they use the european idea of coffee, not the american idea).
yes chocolate is the best thing.....chocolate chip cookies, chocolate ice cream, and the long awaited: reece's peanut butter easter bunnies!!!
cant wait to dig into that one.

I don't know what makes Reese's Peanut Butter eggs so amazing but they are! I like them better than the normal cups. So delicious.
Never been on a cruise, maybe someday after I get settled downed, married, and before kids I can go on one. Could be fun.

I have been on a couple of cruises, unfortunately with my inner ear problem it was more like a few days of hell complete with dizziness and nausea....I would rather NOT get on another boat if its within my powers.
My mom LOVES cruising since she can just unpack once and then not have to pack again until the end of the trip---she gets to see lots of places without even having to leave her cabin, met lots of people, eat lots and lots and lots and lots of good food (she always gains weight on those)....however, since she has gotten more infirm her doctors dont really want her to do any more traveling (kinda like taking the car keys from a newly licensed teen with a brand new car).....she is in the gold club or platinum club of all of the high end cruise lines (I know I had to pack all those brochures when she moved!)......oy
my idea is more just going to a nice warm place with a good view (say to the beach) and having a great hotel room with even better room service and an even better spa...now THAT'S a vacation!
(and rr we had those ham and cheese croissant tonight....havarti cheese since I am allergic to swiss...we bought the ham on sunday and it was our plan to make them with having a dozen croissants to eat between 2 people)

There are 2 coffee syrups available in MA & RI, Eclipse & Autocrat. Most of the milk companies sell their own version of coffee milk. I haven't done any cruises as I get land-sick after being on a boat (mainly fishing charters). I am fine on the water but back on land I feel like the world is swaying. It's finally stopped raining (we had about 6"), luckily our basement stayed dry. Now for the 70's and sunny on the weekend!

My idea of vacation is usually fishing in 60 degree weather in Wisconsin from 6am till 5pm. It's not a cruise but it is relaxing.

I think you can go fishing anywhere in Rhode Island right now. They are flooded everywhere. My friend's uni canceled all classes for the day.
Just think of all the snow we are missing out on.

It would be anywhere from 5 to 20 feet of snow, don't know what would have been worst.

Never been on a cruise, and since I'm a little seasick, it's not something I really want to do.
I prefer to go to the beach. And fortunately it's not that far from my house ^^.
Want to trade your weather for an 86 degree and really sunny weather ?

Mid 60's today and mid to upper 70's for Friday thru Sunday. Route 95 in RI is still closed which is the main artery thru the area. In RI it is the worst flooding in 200 years.
